Online shops that take M-Pesa

E-commerce websites for Kenyan businesses: customers choose, pay with an M-Pesa prompt or a card, and every order arrives already marked paid, with the delivery details.

01Why it matters

If customers can’t pay in two taps, they buy elsewhere.

Selling through Instagram and WhatsApp works, until it doesn’t: every order means answering the same questions, sending a till number, checking M-Pesa messages and writing down addresses, often late at night. An online shop does that work for you, around the clock.

We connect M-Pesa directly through Safaricom’s Daraja API, so your customer gets a PIN prompt on their phone and the order is marked paid automatically, with the receipt code. No screenshots, no fake confirmation messages, and no middleman fee on M-Pesa payments to your till. Card payments run through a secure payment gateway for customers in Kenya and abroad.

We build on WooCommerce, so the shop, the domain and the customer list are yours. Read how much an online shop costs in Kenya for an honest comparison with Shopify.

Ask on WhatsApp

How much does an e-commerce website cost in Kenya?

Our E-commerce website package is KSh 120,000 once-off, or KSh 12,999 a month + KSh 16,999 setup, including M-Pesa and card payments. Across Kenya, online shops with M-Pesa usually cost KSh 60,000–300,000 or more, depending on the number of products, payment options and features.

Can customers pay with M-Pesa automatically?

Yes. At checkout the customer gets an M-Pesa PIN prompt on their phone (STK Push). Safaricom confirms the payment to your website, which marks the order paid and saves the receipt code.

Do I need a registered business for M-Pesa on my website?

Yes, for automatic payments. Safaricom only gives live Daraja access to registered businesses with a Till or Paybill in the same name. A business name registered on eCitizen is enough.

How long does it take to build an online shop?

Usually three to four weeks once your product photos, prices and descriptions are ready, plus Safaricom’s review of the M-Pesa connection.

WooCommerce or Shopify?

We usually build on WooCommerce, so you own the shop and M-Pesa goes straight to your till. Shopify can suit a very small shop, but Shopify Payments is not available in Kenya, and on the Basic plan Shopify adds 2% to orders paid through outside payment providers.

What will it cost to run each month?

Payment fees on each order (Safaricom’s charge on Till payments, or the gateway’s fee on card payments), hosting and the domain, and a care plan once your included support ends.

Can you add M-Pesa to my existing website?

Yes. Tell us what your website runs on and we will quote for the M-Pesa connection and testing.
